About Elektra

Elektra is the pup we kept from our Buck x Boca litter. She made a grand appearance by screaming loudly at birth (the only one to do so) and kept our attention through the puppy placement and selection process. She earned her nickname, “Hugs,” by her constant connection and desire to drape her body across our laps (occasionally checking to see what is on the dinner plate). She is also a bona fide member of the “sloppy sit club” when she wants to be.

She is a thinker (not a pushy do-er like her mother — thank you, Buck!), and she loves to work. Normally quiet at home and on course, she will scream in protest if she is not the “chosen one” to be worked and also gets keyed up with excited barking when waiting for her turn to run in trials.

She runs very differently from her mother as well - she is very light on her feet and needs very little pressure to put in a tight turn. She started training for her running dogwalk early on and loves to RUN! She had great dog skills early on and would get low to relieve pressure on nervous pups in her play group. She gets along with everyone in our pack, but can get wound up if challenged as we’ve seen in some of the crowded areas at trials.

She is hitting her groove in competition:

• She has qualified for the 2019 AKC WTT to be held in May, earning her AX and AXJ the same weekend she finished her qualifications. She earned USASA rankings in Novice agility for 2018.

• She trialed at the Open level at the 2017 ASCA Nationals and won 3 of her classes, taking 2nd in a 4th. She earned HIT Elite at the February 2019 PASA ASCA agility trial, going 9/10 that weekend. She qualified for the 2019 ASCA Agility Finals and will compete in Bakersfield in November. She needs just a few gambles for her ATCH.

• She made finals in three 22” tournaments at 2018 Cynosports, taking 2nd in Steeplechase and just missed the podium in Grand Prix. With limited trialing she made the USDAA Top Ten in the 22” Jumpers class. She earned her ADCH in July 2019.
